Tomorrow morning at 6AM, 6 riders will take off from the Smokey’s parking lot in Truckee, CA ending at the same place over 24 hours later between noon and 3PM Sunday. This will be the second year that members of the Tahoe Staff Cycling Team , Hardy Bullock, Carey Thrasher and Ken Bossung will attempt to ride non-stop together for 300 miles. Why would they do such a thing? Simply good hearts donating all proceeds from donations to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nevada County and North Lake Tahoe’s mentoring programs for at-risk youths.
With the biggest team yet, they will add Chris Barry, Scott Hanson and Mark Hockridge, who will ride with the veterans on a new route that starts and finishes in Truckee, with breaks in Sacramento, Grass Valley and Nevada City along the way. This year will include a lot more elevation and climbs than the previous year that had more mileage across the Sacramento Valley.
Team leader that Hardy Bullock states “I feel a deep connection to kids who need guidance and support. I feel that as a community we can affect their lives in a positive way now and create a better society in the long run,” he said. “It is also important that my children understand the value of helping others. They inspire me in a profound way; I want to be their hero.”
People are welcome to join the finish at Smokey’s on Sunday for a kids bike giveaway where prize will be awarded by Truckee Mayor Richard Anderson.
