Truckee and Lake Tahoe communities will be seeing some international attention this weekend as the 6th Annual Amgen Tour of California starts the 1st stage on Sunday in South Lake Tahoe. This is the largest cycling tour in the U.S, comprised of 140 riders on 18 elite teams covering 800 miles of California’s roadways. With the end of the 1st stage at Northstar, and the start of the 2nd at Squaw Valley, this is an event that shouldn’t be missed. With rain and snow on the forecast, it won’t be the perfect cycling event but dedicated fans will surely show with layers and weather wear cheering on the world’s best riders including last years winner Levi Leipheimer.
