On March 27, the 25+ year tradition of touring the Euer Valley on skis and snowshoes once again comes around. Adult tickets for Tour d’Euer, which include a day pass if needed, are $25 in advance. Juniors’ tickets (18 years and under) are only $20. Prices go up the day of. If you haven’t participated in past years, consider doing so this year for the tour, the treasure hunt and other fun, the exercise, prizes, great food, and good music. Following are a few more details to help you make up your mind.
You can start your journey, whether 2.5K or the much more inclusive 25K, between 8 and 10 a.m. The starter return trip is to Moondance and back. Routes and distances go steadily up from there. For example, the Cookhouse and Coyote Hut is a 10K adventure. Add in a few more—Hideout, High Noon, Paiute, etc.—and your exploration can be anywhere between 10K and 25K. As you make your way, keep an eye out for the treasure tickets; they can be found around the trails. Each ticket gives you another chance to “win some great swag”! The goodies are supplied by Tahoe Donner, Fischer, Christy Hill restaurant, and several others.
At whatever time you leave, you’ll know that when you get back, the music and BBQ run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Tahoetopia has called this event: “A fun end of season celebration.” Squaw Valley Lodge’s blog has said it is a “festive celebration with music and barbeque afterwards”, and has specially mentioned how everything gets underway at Tahoe Donner’s great Cross Country Center. Any way you look at it, there are many bonuses in store for you in this annual event, offering beautiful scenery and outdoor excitement.
