Things have gone bump in the night! At least that’s how the story’s told in historic Truckee. It’s scary how quickly last year the tickets for Truckee’s Haunted Historic Tour sold out. Maybe by the time you read this article it won’t be too late to haunt up a ticket or two. This year’s edition of this frighteningly popular event runs Thursday, October 13 and Friday, October 14. Here are a few more details in the event you can get tickets and brave what the night has in store.
This annual thriller has been taking place every year near Halloween since 2009. Here’s what they do: they take six historic sites, a number of talented actors and musicians, and they act out sometimes dramatic, sometimes funny, but always interesting tales. Each tale is inspired by true events from our yesteryears. Each tour includes “treats and tricks.” Besides local residents like yourself, the event finds visitors coming in from LA, Reno, Sacramento, San Francisco, and even the east coast.
So many sponsors and generous supporters make this annual scare and funfest the best it can be. Funds raised from raffle tickets and a silent auction – over $50,000 as of 2015 – now goes to Trails & Vistas whose purpose is to cultivate environmental stewardship through the arts.
Many details are still being worked out, and yet to be posted, but we do know that this year will feature all new locations and stories. If you’d like to find out more about the event, please visit the organizer’s main Web page. If you are already convinced you’d like to join in the terror and fun of one of the two nights, please visit their ticket sales page here. The tickets page is up to date at time of writing and is in fact very handy: you purchase tickets, at $45.00 per person (over 21 please), for specific days and tour times. When you get to the ticket page you’ll see this posted by the organizers: “It’s always a SELL-OUT event!”. Don’t let that frighten you out of purchasing your ticket(s)!
