Beginning Labor Day Weekend, and extending throughout the middle of September, you’re in for a treat: there are several arts and crafts events where you can attend, enjoy, and be creative. Following is a run-down for you, with links for all Truckee art events in September.
September 2-4, 2016 (Labor Day Weekend). It’s about a half-hour drive to Homewood, and this is where the Homewood Labor Day Fine Arts & Crafts Festival takes place. The exact location is the Homewood Mountain Resort, on West Lake Boulevard. Part of the Pacific Fine Arts Festivals (as many such events are), this show runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each of the three days. It’s free to attend, and offers up works from 50 artists using a variety of media.
September 10 & 11, 2016. A local favorite, it’s time for the Historic Downtown Truckee Arts and Crafts Festival again. The Saturday and Sunday event takes place in Historic Downtown Truckee, on Spring and Donner Pass. Running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each of the two days, here are a few of the many things you can see and do:
- Browse, shop, and enjoy the works of various craftspeople from across the western United States. You’ll encounter photography, jewelry, ceramics, and more.
- Soak in and experience the rich history of the area.
- Stroll along the streets, visiting boutique stores or dining in over a dozen restaurants.
Saturday, September 17, 2016. Art does have soul, and how appropriate the Art & Soul ArtWalk comes to our lives again in Truckee. This one-day event begins at 1 p.m. in Historic Downtown Truckee. What can you do? Stroll and stop by 30 shops that feature the works of our local artists. Enjoy live demonstrations, listen to live music, have some munchies, and tastes of your favorite wine or craft beer. Tickets are available through the link provided, or at Cooking Gallery. This is a feel good event in every way, as some of the proceeds will go to Arts for the Schools.
Get out and get your creative happening! The above is just the beginning of what promises to be an artful fall.
