If you like shopping, good wine, and a little exercise, then Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk & Shop – now in its 13th year – is an event you don’t want to miss. The date this year is Saturday, October 1, 2016. The time, from noon to 4 p.m. And the venue; you know it well! Following are few details about this fun annual occasion to get your started.
Our historic downtown swells with vendors and participants. Each year the event draws 1,000 visitors, both local and residents alike. As you shop local, you’ll get to “sip wine and sample local food tastings”. This is one of Truckee’s most popular happenings, in a beautiful fall setting. All attendees receive a commemorative wine glass for sampling at over 30 vendors, five food tickets, plus (helpful) a map of all participating venues.
When you do a little research on their website, and perhaps visit their testimonials page, you’ll get your first ‘sample’ of the popularity of the event. Here’s an excerpt from but one of many, this one from Balletto Vineyards:
“…we look forward to this event every year. The local response and support is amazing. The event itself is well organized and executed.”
Tickets for the event are only $40 in advance, and $45 the day of. You can purchase them here.
In addition to the wine glass, food vouchers, and map, you get to feel good; not just from the wine! Proceeds from the event go to local organizations. This year, the organizers are partnering with Tahoe Food Hub and Big Brothers of Nevada County and North Lake Tahoe. To date, over $13,000 has gone to various local non-profits. Worried about driving to or from the event? They have you covered: free cab rides are available before, during, and post-event. In addition, they’re encouraging people to step forth and become designated drivers. These tickets are only $10 and include a non-alcoholic beverage, five food tickets, and a map of all participating venues.
If you’d like to do more than attend, sponsorships are available. Visit this Web page to find out more about how you can help with sponsorships ranging from only $500, all the way up to their Premier Event Sponsorship, which is $2,500.
So mark down October 1 in your calendar, and come out to enjoy yourself while supporting your local community!
